The ratio of the length and the breadth of a rectangular plot is 7 : 6 respectively. The perimeter of the plot is 208 m. Find its area.

Validate

Solution:

Let length and breadth be 7x and 6x m respectively; then,
2 (7x + 6x) = 208
⇒ 13x = 104
∴ x = 8
Since, length = 7 × 8 = 56 m; breadth = 6 × 8 = 48m
Area of the rectangular plot = 56 × 48 = 2688
