The length of a rectangular plot is 60% more than its breadth. If the difference between the length and the breadth of that rectangle is 24 cm, find the area of the rectangle.

Solution:

Let breadth = x cm, then length =

{160x}/{100}

= 16x cm; then
1.6x – x = 24
⇒ 0.6x = 24
∴ x = 40
Since, length = 1.6 × 40 = 64 cm; breadth = 40 cm
Area = 64 × 40 = 2560
