If the length of a rectangular field is 48 m more than its breadth and the perimeter of the field is 800 m, what is the area of the field?

Validate

Solution:

Let breadth and length are x m and (x + 48) m respectively, then
2(x + x + 48) = 800
⇒ 2x + 48 = 400
⇒ 2x = 352
∴ x = 176 m
Since, breadth = 176m and length = 176 + 48 = 224 m
Area = 224 × 176 = 39424
