Solution:

Let x + 1 be the factor of

5x^ 7 + 9x ^4 - 7x^ 3 + 11ax + 5a^2

∴5(-1)^ 7 + 9(-1) ^4 - 7(-1)^ 3 + 11a(-1) + 5a^2=0

⇒5a^2-11a+11=0
