A sum of ₹ 2600 is lent out into two parts, one at 9% and another at 7%. If the total annual income is ₹206. find the money lent at 7%.

Solution:

(a) Let the sum lent at 7% be ₹ x and that lent at 9% be ₹ (2600-x). Then,

{x×7×1}/100+{(2600-x)×9×1}/100=206

7x+9 × 2600—9x = 20600

2x = 20600 - 9 ×2600
