Sum of five consecutive even numbers are 380. What is the second number in ascending order?

Solution:

x, (x + 2), (x + 4), (x + 6)

and

(x + 8)

respectively
Then

x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) + (x + 6) + (x + 8) = 380

5x + 20 = 380

x=360/5=72

∴Second number in ascending order

= (x + 2)

= 72 + 2 = 74
