A box contains four cards numbered as 1,2,3 and 4 and another box contains four cards numbered as 1,4,9 and 16. On card is drawn at random from each box. What is the probability of getting the product of the two numbers so obtained , more than 16?

Solution:

Possible products are 1, 4, 9, 16, 2, 8, 18, 32, 3, 12, 27, 48, 4, 16, 36,64
Then number of possible outcomes = 16
The numbers which are product of two numbers and more than 16 are 18,27, 32, 36, 48, 64.
Then, number of favourable outcomes = 6
So, required probability of getting the product of the two numbers so obtained is
