Loss of weight during this experiment was 4.40 g. What is the weight of the empty test tube in this experiment?

On thermal decomposition of calcium carbonate

CaCO_3{–––>}↖{∆}CaO+CO_2

100g 56g 44g
∵ 44 g

CO_2

is formed form 100g

CaCO_3

∴ 4.40 g

CO_2

is formed from

100/44×4.4=10g\;CaCO_3

If mass of

CaCO_3

is 10g,then weight of empty test tube

=30.08-10.0=20.08g
