A six faced die is a biased one. It is thrice more likely toshow an odd number than to show an even number. It is thrown twice. The probability that the sum of numbers in the two throws is even is :

Solution:

Let the probability to show an even number be P.
As per the question,
Probability to show an odd number will be 3P

∴3P+P=1

⇒4P=1

⇒P=1/4

So,

3P=3/4

Required probability

=\;\;{3}/{4}×\;\;{3}/{4}+\;\;{1}/{4}×\;\;{1}/{4}=\;\;{9}/{16}+\;\;{1}/{16}=\;\;{10}/{16}=\;\;{5}/{8}
