Solution:

Required distance

=16+2[16 × \;{1}/{2}+16 × \;{1}/{2^{2}}+16 × \;{1}/{2^{3}}+16 × \;{1}/{2^{4}}+. . .]

=16+2 × \;{16 × {1}/{2}}/{1-\;{1}/{2}}=48 {m}
