After few days, 30 girls joined the school but few boys left, as a result the ratio of the boys and girls became 7: 6 . The number of boys who left the school is

Solution:

Number of boys

=\;{4}/{7} × 1554=888

Number of girls

=\;{3}/{7} × 1554=666

Let the boys who left be

x

and 30 girls join school.

∴\;{888-x}/{666+30}=\;{7}/{6}

⇒ \;\; 4872=5328-6 x

⇒ \;\; 6 x=456

⇒ \;\; x=\;{456}/{6}=76
