A man purchases some oranges at the rate of 3 for

₹ 40

and the same quantity at 5 for

₹ 60 .

If he sells all the oranges at the rate of 3 for

₹ 50,

then find his gain or loss per cent (to the nearest integer).

Solution:

Total cost price

=40 × 5+60 × 3

=200+180=380

∴ ₹ 200=15

oranges and

₹ 180=15

oranges
Selling price

=\;{30}/{3} × 50=500

∴

Profit percentage

=\;{ {SP}- {CP}}/{ {CP}} × 100 \%=\;{500-380}/{380} × 100

=\;{120}/{380} × 100=3157 \%=32 \%
