Solution:

If rate of interest be

Then,

{SI}=\;{\;\text " Principal "\; × \;\text " Time "\; × \;\text " Rate "\;}/{100}

∴ \;\; \;{6000 × 2 × R}/{100}+\;{1500 × 4 × R}/{100}=900

⇒ \;\; 120 R+60 R=900

⇒ \;\; 180 R=900

⇒ \;\; R=\;{900}/{180}=5 \%
