Sum of two numbers is 60 and their difference is 12. Find their product.

Solution:

Let the numbers are x and y

x+y=60

....(i)

x–y=12

......(ii)
Solving (i) and (ii) then we get,

x=36

and

y=24

Product of the numbers

=36×24

=864.
