A man spends 1/3 of his income on food, of the rest 1/4 on house rent and 1/5 on cloth. He still has ₹1,760 left with him. Find his income.

Solution:

Let his income = ₹ x

x=\;\;{x}/{3}+\;\;{x}/{6}+\;\;{2x}/{15}+1760

⇒x=\;\;{10x+5x+4x+30×1760}/{30}

⇒30x-19x=30×1760

⇒11x=30×1760

⇒x=\;\;{30×1760}/{11}

=30×160

=4800

Hence, his income

=₹4800
