Solution:

Let, ΔABC is an isosceles triangle with AB = AC = 4 cm and BC = 2 cm

AD=√{(AB)^2-(BD)^2}

=√{4^2-1^2}=√15

Area of the triangle ABC

=1/2×AD×BC

=1/2×√15×2=√15cm^2
