From the vertex of an obtuse angle, perpendiculars are drawn to the arms of the angle. If the angle between the above perpendiculars is 35°, then what is the measure of the obtuse angle?

Validate

Solution:

Let ∠AOB is obtuse angle with angle arm OA and OB.
AD ⊥ OB and BE ⊥OA.
∠AFB = 35°
From ΔAEF,

∠FAE=180°-(∠AEF+∠AFE)

=180°-90°-35°

=55°

From ΔADO,

∠AOD=∠AFE=35°

∠AOB=180°-35°

=145°
