If P is ‘a’ % more than Q and Q is ‘b’ % less than P, then

1/a – 1/b = 100
1/a – 1/b = 1/100
1/a + 1/b = 100
1/b – 1/a = 1/100

Solution:

P=Q(1+\;\;{a}/{100})

and

\;Q=P(1-\;\;{b}/{100})

{P}/{Q}=1+\;\;{a}/{100}

and

{P}/{Q}=\;\;{1}/{(1-\;\;{b}/{100})}

Therefore

1+\;\;{a}/{100}=\;\;{1}/{1-\;\;{b}/{100}

or,

1-\;\;{ab}/{10000}=1+\;\;{b}/{100}-\;\;{a}/{100}

\;\;{a}/{100}-\;\;{b}/{100}=\;\;{ab}/{10000}

\;\;{1}/{b}-\;\;{1}/{a}=\;\;{1}/{100}
