A contractor agreeing to finish a work in 150 days employed 75 men, each working for 8 h daily. After 90 days only

of the work was completed. How many more men would be put on now, each working 10 h daily so as to finish the work in the stipulated time?

Solution:

M_{1}=75,D_{1}=90,W_{1}={2}/{7},H_{1}=8

M_{2}=?,D_{2}=60,W_{2}={5}/{7},H_{2}=10

M_{1}D_{1}H_{1}W_{2}=M_{2}D_{2}H_{2}W_{1}

⇒75×90×8×{5}/{7}=M_{2}×60×10×{2}/{7}

∴M_{2}={75×90×8×5}/{60×10×2}=225

Hence, More men

=225–150=75
