Rs. 120 is divided among A, B and C such that A’s share is Rs. 20 more than B’s and Rs. 20 less than C’s. What is B’s share?

Solution:

Let, share of A, B and C be Rs. (x + 120), Rs. x and Rs. (x + 40) respectively; then

x+20+x+x+40=120

⇒3x=60

⇒x=Rs.20

Thus, share of B = Rs. 20
