There is a number consisting of two digits, the digit in the unit's place is twice that in the ten' place and if 2 is subtracted from the sum of the digits, the difference is equal to

Solution:

Let the number be

(10 x+y)

Given that,

y=2 x

and

x+y-2=\;{1}/{6}(10 x+y)

⇒ x+2 x-2=\;{1}/{6}(10 x+2 x) ⇒ 3 x-2=2 x

⇒ x=2

and

y=4

∴

Number

=10 × 2+4=24
