If the average of eight consecutive even number be 93 , then the greatest number among them is

Solution:

Let the eight consecutive even numbers are

x, x+2, x+4, x+6, x+8, x+10, x+12, x+14

According to the question,

\;{x+x+2+x+4+x+6+x+8+x+10+x+12+x+14}/{8}=93

⇒ 8 x+56=744 ⇒ 8 x=744-56

⇒ 8 x=688 ⇒ x=\;{688}/{8}=86

Hence, the greatest number

=x+14

=86+14=100
