the ratio of their ages will be

What is the difference in years between their ages?

Solution:

Let the ages of Sulekha and Arunima be

9 x

yr and

8 x

yr, respectively.
According to the question,

\;{9 x+5}/{8 x+5}=\;{10}/{9}

⇒ \;\; 81 x+45=80 x+50

⇒ \;\; x=50-45

∴\;x=5

Required Difference

=9 × 5-8 × 5=45-40=5 {yr}
