A man buys a single apple for

₹ 25 .

If he were to buy a dozen apples, he would have to pay a total amount of

₹ 250 .

What would be the approximate per cent discount he would get on buying a dozen apples?

Solution:

Cost price of an apple

=₹ 25

Then, cost price of a dozen apple

=25 × 12=₹ 300

Selling price

=₹ 250

Discount

=300-250=₹ 50

∴

Discount percentage

=\;{50}/{300} × 100

=16.66 \%=17 \%
