Solution:

Let, total journey travelled by man = x km
According to the question,

{2x}/{11}+\;\;{17x}/{22}+1=x

⇒{4x+17x+22}/{22}=x

⇒21x+22=22x

⇒22x-21x=22

⇒x=22

Hence, total distance travelled by the man = 22 km.
