The prices of a scooter and a moped are in the ratio of 9 : 5. If a scooter costs Rs. 4,200 more than a moped, find the price of the moped.

Solution:

Let, prices of a scooter and a moped be Rs. 9x and 5x respectively, then,

9x–5x=4200

⇒4x=4200

⇒x=1050

Thus, price of a moped= 5x = 5 × 1050 = Rs. 5250
