Solution:

(b) Mrs. X spends = ₹ 535
∴Total cost = 43 shirt + 21 ties = 535
By hit and trial, S = 10, T = 5
=> Total cost =

43 × 10+ 21×5 = 535

Hence, Ratio of shirts to ties =10:5 = 2: 1
