(d) : Interstitial cells (or Leydig 's cells) are the cells interspersed between the seminiferous tubules of the testis. They secrete androgens including testosterone in response to stimulation by luteinizing hormone from the anterior pitutary gland. Androgens produce and maintain male characteristics and stimulate germinal epithelium to undergo spermatogenesis.
