In human females, ovulation is the release of secondary oocyte from the ovary at about 14‌th ‌ day of the menstrual cycle. Both LH and FSH attain a peak level during this period. Rapid secretion of LH induces rupturing of fully developed Graafian follicle and thereby release of ovum. LH surge is actually responsible for ovulation.
