Violet colour of light shows maximum deviation when passed through the prism. Deviation is inversely proportional to the wavelength of the light. Among the seven colours of spectrum (Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red), which appears through prism, violet colour has the least wavelength and hence it has maximum deviation.
