(A) In 2002, the Vajpayee government formed a task force under Vijay Kelkar tore commend tax reforms. The task force headed by Vijay Kelkar had proposed a comprehensive GST to deal with the myriad problems and complications suffered by India’s taxation system. The Task Force acted as a miniature Tax Reforms Commission, laying out the framework for a radical transformation of India’s tax structure, both direct and indirect.
