(D) The distance between the Sun and the Earth is 149.6 million km. This distance is also called 1 AU (One Astronomical Unit). The distance between the Earth and the Sun is so great that the light from the Sun takes about eight minutes to hit the Earth’s surface, travelling at 186,000 miles per second.
