National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28th February each year to mark the discovery of the Ram an effect by Indian physicist Sir Chandrasekhar Venkata Ram an on 28th February, 1928. For his discovery, Ram an was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.
