Solution:

(4) Since, 4 engines of latter type = 3 engines of former type
∴ 8 engines of latter type = 6 engines of former type Now, by chain rule

x/24=6/9×13/8

⇒ x =

6/9×13/8

x 24 = 26 metric tons
