Solution:

(b) Quantity of petrol in the mixture
=

1/2×2+3/5×3+4/5×1

1+9/5+4/5

1+13/5=18/5

and quantity of kerosene in the mixture
=

1/2×2+2/5×3+1/5×1

1+6/5+1/5

1+7/5=12/5

Thus, ratio of petrol and kerosene

18/5:12/5

= 3 : 2
