Validate

Solution:

(a) ₹ 240, ₹ 60, ₹ 18
Let, the skilled, unskilled workers and clerks be 8y, 5y and y, respectively.
According to the question, 5y = 20 ⇒ y = 4
∴ Skilled Workers = 8y = 8 x 4 = 32
Clerks = y = 4
Let, the wages of the skilled, unskilled workers and clerks be 5x, 2x and 3x, respectively.
According to the question,
32 (5x) + 20 (2x) + 4 (3x) = 318
⇒ 160x + 40x + 12x = 318
⇒ 212x = 318
⇒ x =

318/212

= 1.5
∴ Wages of skilled workers = 32(5 x 1.5) = ₹ 240
Wages of unskilled workers = 20(2 x 1.5) = ₹ 60
Wages of clerks = 4(3 x 1.5)= ₹ 18
