The relationship between the rates of the tickets for the rail is : AC II is 20% higher than AC III and AC I is 70% of AC Ill’s value plus AC II ticket’s value. The 3-tier ticket is 25% of the AC I’s ticket cost and the General ticket is 1/3 the price of the AC II ticket. The AC II ticket costs ₹ 780 between Mumbai and Pune. The difference in the rates of 3-tier and General ticket is

Solution:

=780

⇒

{780×100}/120

= ₹ 650
∴ Cost of AC III ticket = ₹ 650
Now, Cost of AC I ticket = 70% of 650 + 780
=

70/100

x 650 + 780 = 455 +780 = ₹ 1235
Cost of 3-tier ticket = 25% of AC I ticket = ₹

(25/100×1235)

= ₹ 308.75
Cost of General ticket =

1/3

x (AC II ticket) =

1/3

x 780 = ₹ 260
∴ Required difference = ₹ (308.75 - 260) = ₹ 48.75
