(d) Given, Ashok and Amit started a business with investment of ₹ 5 lakh and ₹ 4 lakh.
∴ Ratio of their profits = 5 : 4

Let the total profit gained in the business be ₹ x.
Then, Ashok’s share = $\frac{5}{9}\left(\mathit{x}-\frac{\mathit{x}}{5}\right)$
(since, $\frac{\mathit{x}}{5}$ is taken as salary by Amit)
= $\frac{5}{9}\left(\frac{4\mathit{x}}{5}\right)=\frac{4\mathit{x}}{9}$ .......(i)
and, Amit's share
= $\frac{\mathit{x}}{5}\times \frac{90}{100}$ + $\left(\mathit{x}-\frac{\mathit{x}}{5}\right)\times \frac{4}{9}$
= $\frac{9\mathit{x}}{50}+\frac{4\mathit{x}}{5}\times \frac{4}{9}$
= $\frac{9\mathit{x}}{50}+\frac{16\mathit{x}}{45}$
= $\frac{4054\mathit{x}+800\mathit{x}}{2250}=\frac{1205\mathit{x}}{2250}$ ...........(ii)
But both shares are equal in value.
∴ $\frac{4\mathit{x}}{9}=\frac{1205\mathit{x}}{2250}$
So, answer of this question cannot be determined.
