(a) Time taken by A to do a work = 20 days
A's 1 day's work =

1/20

Time taken by B to do the same work = 10 days
B's 1 day’s work =

1/10

A’s 5 day's work =

1/20

x 5 =

1/4

Remaining work = 1 -

1/4

{4-1}/4

3/4

A and B can do the work in one day
=

(1/20+1/10)

{1+2}/20=3/20

Time taken to complete the remaining work = 5 days
Total time taken to finish the work = 5 + 5 = 10 days
