Then, on adding 1 to both numerator and denominator the ratio ch an ges as
$\frac{1+1}{\mathit{K}+1}=\frac{\mathit{R}}{\mathit{S}}$
$\frac{2}{\mathit{K}+1}=\frac{\mathit{R}}{\mathit{S}}$
When 1 is again added the ratio changes as
$\frac{2+1}{\mathit{K}+1+1}$ = $\frac{\mathit{R}+1}{\mathit{S}+1}=\frac{1}{2}$   $\left(\because \frac{\mathit{R}+1}{\mathit{S}+1}=\frac{1}{2},\mathit{g}\mathit{i}\mathit{v}\mathit{e}\mathit{n}\right)$
or $\frac{2+1}{\mathit{K}+1+1}=\frac{1}{2}$
⇒ $\frac{3}{\mathit{K}+2}=\frac{1}{2}$
⇒ 6 = K + 2
∴ K = 4
So, Q = K = 4 and P = 1
∴ P : Q = 1 : 4 and P + Q = 1 + 4 = 5
