Kumaun Himalayas, a west-central section of the Himalayas in northern India, extending 200 miles (320 km) from the Sutlej River east to the Kali River.

The part of the Himalayas lying between the rivers Indus and Satluj is known as Punjab Himalayas.
The part of the Himalayas lying between the rivers Kali and Teesta is known as Nepal Himalayas.
The part of the Himalayas lying between the rivers Teesta and Dihang is known as Assam Himalayas.
The part of the Himalayas lying between the rivers Satluj and Kali is known as Kumaon Himalayas.
The main Himalayan river systems are those of the Indus and the Ganga-Brahmaputra-Meghna system.
The Indus, which is one of the great rivers of the world, rises near Mansarovar in Tibet and flows through India, and thereafter through Pakistan, and finally falls in the Arabian Sea near Karachi.
The Brahmaputra marks the easternmost boundary of the Himalayas. Beyond the Dihang gorge, the Himalayas bend sharply to the south and spread along the eastern boundary of India.
To the south of the main Himalayas lies the Pir Panjal Range at an average height of 5,000 meters (16,000 ft).
From Gulmarg, in the northwest, it follows the southern rim of the Kashmir valley to the Banihal Pass.
Here the Pir Panjal meets the ridgeline that separates the Kashmir valley from the Warvan Valley.
