Let the third number be x.
According to the question;
First number $=\left(20/100\right)\times \mathit{x}=\mathit{x}/5$
Second number $=\left(50/100\right)\times \mathit{x}=\mathit{x}/2$
so, Required percentage $=\frac{\frac{\mathit{x}}{5}}{\frac{\mathit{x}}{2}}\times 100$
$\Rightarrow \left(2/5\right)\times 100=40\%$
∴ The correct answer is 40%
Let the third number be 100
First number $=20\%$ of $100=20$
Second number $=50\%$ of $100=50$
Required percentage $=\left(20/50\right)\times 100\%$
$\Rightarrow 40\%$
∴ The required percentage is 40%
