Solution:

Given:
CP of an item = Rs. 500
SP of an item = Rs. 600
Concept used :

\Profit = SP – C

= (Profit{/}CP) × 100

Calculation :

\Profit = SP – CP

⇒ 600 – 500

⇒ Rs. 100

Profit % = (Profit/CP)

× 100 = (100{/}500) × 100 = 100{/}5 = 20%

∴ Required profit in the transaction is 20%.
