Solution:

In ΔABC
⇒ BC = 10 and AD = 12 cm
As we know, AD is perpendicular to BC.
In right angled triangle ABD

⇒ AB^2 = BD^2 + AD^2

(Pythagoras theorem)

⇒ AB^2 = 52 + 122

⇒ AB = 25 + 144 = 169 = 13 cm
