Solution:

Given,

⇒ x = 5 + y

⇒ x – y = 5

⇒ y = 15{/}x

⇒ xy = 15

As we know,

⇒ (x – y)^2= x^2 + y^2 – 2xy

⇒ 5^2 = x^2 + y^2 – 2 × 15

⇒ 25 = x^2 + y^2 – 30

⇒ x^2 + y^2 = 25 + 30 = 55

⇒ x^2 = 55 – y^2
