Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) is used in banks to process large volumes of cheques, ft is used for recognizing the magnetic encoding numbers printed at the bottom of a cheque. At the bottom of every cheque, printed in a special font using magnetic ink, is the bank account number and cheque number. MICR reader can read these special numbers.
