Solution:

Let the man worked overtime for x hours.
Basic pay of 40 hours = Rs. 200
∴ Basic hour pay =

{200}/{40}

= Rs. 5
According to the question
200 + x ×

{5×125}/{100}

= 300
⇒

{25}/4

x = 300 - 200
⇒ x =

{100×4}/{25}

= 16
∴ Total hours of work = 40 + 16 = 56
