When a bucket is half full, the weight of the bucket and the water is 10 kg. When the bucket is two-thirds full, the total weight is 11 kg. What is the total weight, in kg, when the bucket is completely full?

Solution:

Here weight will be measured in two criteria's weight of bucket w + weight of water (

πr ^2h

× density) in first case

w+πr^2h/2 \ρ=10

in second case

w+πr^2 2/3h \ρ=11

∴πr^2(2/3-1/2)h\ρ=1

⇒πr^2h\ρ=6

Also

w+{πr^2h\ρ}/2=10

w+3=10

w = 7

Hence total weight

=w+πr^2h \ρ

=7 +6= 13
