Arylbromides are not good candidates for Gabriel. Phthalimide synthesis because arylbromides do not undergo nucleophilic substitution reaction with the anion formed by phthalimide.
Nucleophilic substitution reactions in aryl halides occur only under drastic conditions. These conditions are not provided in Gabriel-phthalimide synthesis.
