Photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) is light of wavelengths 400–700 nm and is the portion of the light spectrum utilised by plants for photosynthesis. Out of total incident solar radiation, about fifty percent of it forms photosynthetically active radiation or PAR. Out of which only 2–10 % of PAR is captured by plants.
